BIOGRAPHY
Competing in the European Young Horse classes, NKH Carrido posted a stellar four year old season – with 9’s across the board in character, ridability, technique, and jumping capacity. As a five year old this success continued as he earned scores up to 8.5 in jumping technique, and all 9’s in gallop, sport potential, and rideability. He competed at the Zangersheide Young Horse Championships in Lanaken, where he won the second qualifying round.
Carrido landed in the United States as a six year old, and began showing in the American Young Horse divisions. He soon qualified for YJC Championships, and was the winner of the 6 Year Old YJC Western Regional Championship Finals held in Del Mar in September of 2016. He finished the three round competition on a combined score of 0 faults.
Prior to Morin taking the reins in 2021, he was campaigned by Mathis Schwentker at the 3* level in California, along with stops in Wellington and Las Vegas. In 2019, he was the only horse to place in both the Thermal and Ocala Million Dollar Classes. 2022 served as a breakout season for Carrido and Morin in the FEI Rankings. Competing at the 2* and 3* levels, they found immediate success with wins at Thunderbird Show Park in July and August. At 19 years old Morin achieved her goal of jumping a 5*, during the Spruce Meadows Summer Series she piloted Carrido to a clear jumping effort on the clock, and over fences.
NKH Carrido offers all the characteristics of the modern showjumper, displaying power, strength, and scope paired with rideability and a lovely disposition. These qualities can be seen evidently in his father, Carrico – a breeding stallion who has sired dozens of international jumpers, along with an impressive lineup of hunter offspring in North America. Coming off a successful 1.60m career in Europe, Carrico was imported to the US in 2014 and seamlessly transitioned to the hunter ring, competing at Derby Finals and in the Amateur Owner divisions with owner Callie Seamen.
